Root to Rise!! Community Yoga with BK Buddha!! Two Classes Every Wednesday Starting September 4th 2019!

​This Fall, Magnolia Tree Earth Center has partnered with BK Buddha to bring our community a loving dose of health and wellness! 

Root to Rise: Community Yoga


Yogis of all experience levels, sizes, abilities and genders can  practice and enjoy yoga at the Magnolia Tree Earth Center with BK Buddha.

Our purpose is to provide a safe space to express our freedom as we deepen awareness of our mind, body and spirits. Come with an open heart and mind.

Beginning on Wednesday September 4th 2019, classes will take place at 10am and at 6:30pm every week. 

Each class is $15 per Yogi! If you bring a friend, class will be 2 for $25!

​The Instructor of Root to Rise is Sakina Brehon Williams. Ms. Williams is a resident of Bedford Stuyvesant, and a 20 year yoga practitioner who is E-RYT 500 certified. Sakina teaches an undergraduate course, Yoga Theory and Application at Seton Hall University in the College of Education and Human Services. This course provides students with basic yoga and real world fundamentals on and off the mat. Her background in Publishing and Marketing has laid the foundation to navigate in the wellness community making yoga for every body and everybody. Sakina believes that harmonizing the body and energizing the spirit will empower the mind. 

BK Buddha is a traveling wellness studio that provides yoga instruction, meditation and wellness guidance to the person who wouldn't step foot in a yoga studio.

“The Block Party”: The Magnolia Tree Earth Center of Bedford Stuyvesant joins P.S. 21 at its annual block party for a celebration of school, family and neighborhood and to share information about Magnolia Tree’s history and its resources for the community. Magnolia tables will provide board games, arts and crafts, miniature village-building from everyday materials, and a community mural painting. The debut of Brooklyn’s first ecology songs – “Like an Oak Tree” and “Planting My Future” -- composed by former NYC Parks and Recreation arts and recreation instructor Larry Banks for the children of Brooklyn --- will be performed at a tree dedication to education pioneer Adelaide Sanford.

April 23rd - PLANT A TREE FOR ARBOR DAY! CONTINUE BEYOND A MILLION!


Free trees for Arbor Day planting at schools and in community gardens are available from John Bowne HS Nursery.  They will be delivered to sites by the NYC Parks Department during the week of April 23rd.  Arbor Day is officially April 27th.

October 19th - Green Horizons

Green Horizons 22 was a successful day in October, as almost 300 middle school students explored 19 environmental and natural resources careers with professional leadership at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

The next Green Horizons will be held at Queens Botanical Garden on October 18, 2018.
